AUSTWHIM HOUSE, BARROW IN FURNESS – AN OVERVIEW OF THE 8 BEDROOM COMMERCIAL TO RESIDENTIAL HMO PROJECT

In early 2018 we purchased a derelict commercial building in Barrow-In-Furness, which was previously an office over 2 floors.

In March 2018 planning approval was granted to convert into an 8 bed en-suite HMO (Houses in multiple occupation) with communal kitchen and living area.

Prior to purchase, the building had been used for many years as an office for a local newspaper company.

It’s located just off the pedestrianized main shopping street in Barrow, ideal for shops bars and restaurants, which are also very close to the train station and main transport links.

The 2 floors which were previously being used as an office had a total gross floor area of 150m2.

The architect for the project produced plans, which incorporates the loft space of the property (additional 75m2 of floor area), which results in 225m2 of total floor area over the 3 floors to be used for the conversion.
